Car of the Week… Woody Wagon Style.

When Bill and Sally Daniels, @50oldstinwoody, decided to build their latest ride, they left no stone unturned and no detail untouched.  The goal was to build one of the best 50 Olds Tin Woodys out there.   To reach that level, Bill turned to Mike Bowen with Spotlight Custom Cars, @spotlightcustomcars, with the help of Rabbit at North Georgia Fabrication, to build the stunning ride. A fresh Art Morrison, @artmorrisonenterprises, chassis created the perfect foundation for the 1950 Oldsmobile. Bill wanted the right amount of performance with the handling of the car along with enough power to push it comfortably down the road.   Who better to supply the power but Tony Lombardi @rossracingengines. Tony built a signature 1956 Olds Stroker engine for Bills 50 Olds Coupe that survived a total wreck the year before that was tagged for this build.   The new engine was topped off with 6 carbs by Dave Ehrlich with Autotrend EFI, @autotrend_efi, that gives the desired performance and classic look the wagon needed.   The built engine is backed by a Turbo 400 with GearVendor, @gearvendors, overdrive.

You can see the before and after photos of this car below.  The car was a total loss, but the engine was able to be used again and received no damage even after sitting upside down for a while.

With the great platform ready for the car in the Art Morrison chassis and the Ross Racing Engines motor, it was then time for the paint and bodywork to be taken to the next level by Spotlight Custom Cars.  For the wood grain look, the airbrushing work was masterfully performed by Tommy Brock, @ttommybrock.  If one didn’t know it was painted on, they might mistake it for real wood.  The Schott Modsport wheels, @schottwheels, blend in nicely with the overall theme of the car and are wrapped by BF Goodrich tires, @bfgoodrichtires. The bright work was taken care of by Atlantic Coast Plating, @atlantic_coast_plating_inc.

As with any top quality build, the inside of the car has to be as nice as the outside.  This car lacks nothing on the inside and shows the Daniels’ commitment to finishing the car the right way and not skipping any steps. Interiors by Shannon, @interiorsbyshannon, stitched the beautiful interior.  Give them a follow on their Instagram page and you will see the before and after photos of what the interior looked like.  You will also find their hand built custom interiors are top notch. To finish off the interior, extra features such as @dakota_digital gauges were installed along with New Relics power windows, @vintageair_ to keep the inside cool and warm when needed, and finally a smooth sounding Pioneer stereo for cruising sounds.

The completed car is something that anyone would be proud to call their own.  Thank you again Bill for sharing your amazing car with us.  We hope to see it in person in 2020.
