We purchased this car last year off the the lady that flew to Los Angeles april15 1966 and bought the car and shipped back to Pittsburgh. Her and her father did a restoration project to compete in aaca shows. In the 58 years they put a total of roughly 8k miles on it for shows and parades. The car is all original NEVER RUSTED, never damaged sheet metal. We pulled the original flathead and installed a fresh built 1957 283 engine using a vintage Hurst adapter and bellhousing mated to the original 36 trans now running new 39 gears. Power through the original torque tube to the original Columbia 2-speed rearend. The Early V8 garage provided all the brake lines and master cylinder and adapter to operate the hydraulic Boling Brothers. Lincoln brakes. Cooling via copper and brass Johnsons radiator. New 12 volt odyssey Gel battery is charged by a powermaster alternator made to look like 1957 generator. Completely rewired with correct cloth wiring and tar loom. All original instruments work with voltage step-down. . Exhaust starts with a pristine set of early 55 corvette OEM manifolds and runs through new dual exhaust with stainless powder coated flomasters. The original WIDE 5 wheels are mounted with Diamondback piecrust radials 550 and 700/16s
The front suspension is lowered with a dropped and narrowed axle with a posies super slide reverse eye spring And modern tube shocks ensuring a smooth ride. Rear suspension dropped with Carillo customs mounting brackets on the original radius rods and sprung by another posies super slide spring and tube shocks. The windshield is chopped 4" and the original chrome irons were moved forward and down accordingly. The original cloth was then reused to match the character of the lacquer washington blue paint applied in 1967. The original seat was lowered three inches and moved back 4" allowing plenty of legroom and comfort For the tallest. Car runs down the highway 75 -80 mph effortlessly. As seen at the gathering at the ROC this year, where it received coolest hotrod crossmembers pick.
