1951 Anglia Streetrod

The Anglia was purchased mid 70’s. The firewall and front floor had been removed by previous owner for a project that died on the vine. This Anglia will become a Streetrod when finished. Once home it was put in dry storage until 2001 for a 6 year build.

The original frame was cut off at the front end of the cowl and at the rear end of the quarter panel. The remainder was then welded to the body for added strength. A rolling chassis was sourced from Fatman Fabrication which included IFS with Alden coilover front suspension, rack and pinion steering, narrowed 9” Ford rearend with 3.73 Trak Lok. Rear suspension is 4 link and Alden coilovers. Brakes are front disc and rear drums.The engine is 327 cu.in. Chevy , built by Performance Clinic, includes new pistons Crower #278-H cam, Edelbrock 4 barrel, Pertronic Electronic (Igniter) ignition, Sanderson Headers, Powermaster alternator. The transmission is Turbo 400 with Lokar shifter and teflon braided ST steel coolant lines. The radiator was custom built by Labes Radiator. The ceramic coated exhaust system is made from 409 ST. steel tubing with Stainless Specialties mufflers. Wheels are E T 4 1/2 x 15 polished “Gasser” spoke fronts and big window rears. A 17 Gal. St. Steel gas tank was fabricated to fit the rear of the frame. A Holly electric fuel pump is used with Teflon lined braided St. steel fuel lines. The emergency brake is Lokar floor mount with Lokar cables.

Body Mods

The soft top insert is replaced with a new ‘95-‘99 Chevy Cavalier 4 door roof skin. A new firewall was constructed. A new floor from the firewall through the trunk to the tool tray was constructed to accommodate the rear suspension and transmission. Inner cowl panels were created to enclose this area. OEM front fender splash panels were modified to clear the upper “A” arms.  The original trafficators (turn signals) were restored and operable for DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. (They are too fragile to be used while driving on the street. Outside rear view mirrors are Valley Smooth Parts MFG. Front and rear bumpers were removed. The fuel filler was relocated to accomodate the new fuel tank. Taillights are modified ‘37 Ford with LED conversion units. A bulkhead was created at the bottom of the firewall/toe board area for HVAC hose fittings. A new battery tray was fabricated for the trunk mounted Optoma battery. Interior

The dashboard is modified unit sourced from a ‘51 Ford F1 p/u that has been sectioned approx. 9 1/2” in width and the entire dash has been repositioned to the rear approx. 2 1/2” to accommodate the Vintage Air A/C and HVAC vents. Gauges are Classic Instrument. The steering column is a mid 70s GM tilt with Flaming River Waterfall steering wheel. Power windows are from Specialty Power windows. Windshield wipers are from New Port Eng.

The audio system consists of a Sony Am/fm compact disc player with the receiver mounted in the trunk along with the AudioBahn A6004T amplifier unit. A CENTECH wiring system makes everything function as needed. The interior is all gray leather by Mike Lyons  of Lyons Custom Trim, Brookville, OH.
