A meticulous no-expense-spared ground-up build by Classic Restorations of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, fused the sum total of nearly six decades of high-performance heritage into this one-of-a-kind 1965 Mustang Convertible known as “Black Diamond”. The odometer has logged just under 9,990 miles since the highly modified American icon rolled out of the shop with its hand-sculpted body finished in two-tone Ford Tuxedo black and PPG single-stage black urethane. Custom roll pans and tucked bumpers, a stainless steel mesh grille, rear spoiler and flush mount LED headlamps and tail lights lend sinister style to the classic Mustang design.

Borla 8-stack individual throttle body injection and FAST fuel management extract maximum performance from the Ford Racing Boss 347 CI crate V-8 engine, and a Bowler Tru-Street Ford 4R70W automatic transmission with overdrive delivers ground-pounding power through a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.70:1 gears. Ceramic-coated 2.5-inch stainless exhaust with Flowmaster 40-series mufflers belt out a signature sound.
Purpose-built ball end shock tower bracing, RideTech coilovers, front and rear sway bars and a Total Control Products 4-link rear suspension team up with Wilwood disc brakes with special machined calipers for horsepower-matched road control.
Dropping the power-operated top unveils a Cool Touch black leather cockpit with blue accent stitching by Cutter’s Hot Rod Interiors of Dillsboro, Indiana. Capacitive touch power windows, Vintage Air and a Kenwood sound system with concealed controls deliver 4-season convenience and entertainment. Modified Sparco seats with Schroth Racing 6-point harnesses, Daytona weave carpet, a Shelby style roll bar and a Chromoly 6-point roll cage offer competition-spec comfort and a one-off flat-bottom steering wheel, AutoMeter gauges and a custom T-bar shifter serve as the driver command center. “Black Diamond” rolls on Forgeline 18-inch wheels with knock-off centers and Continental tires. A second set of matching black racing wheels with Michelin tires are included for track use.
