The time is here for the latest build at Opposing Cylinders.  This time, we are building an all-steel 1932 Ford 5 window coupe.   The car was original started by Steadfast Hot Rods in Belleville, OH.   It was later sold as a roller and taken to another shop where it ended up in a corner due to another project taking its place for the current owner. A few years later, our good friends, The Becker’s, bought the car.  Word spread around and we found out the car may be for sale.  We quickly made a phone call and agreed to buy the car, parts etc. for the new build.

Who better to take the car to finish it off other than those that had originally started on it?  We have heard and known about Steadfast Hot Rods for the past few years.  We have seen a number of their builds now and have come to realize how special their work and craftsmanship truly is.

The car is now in progress and being worked on.  We will continue to provide ongoing updates on our @opposingcylinders Instagram and Facebook pages.   We will also share more progress photos here on our website so that you may see them all together in one central location.

In this next collection of photos we see multiple changes on the car that have taken place.  The doors have all been metal finished and gapped along with the deck lid.   Steadfast has re-worked a stock firewall with multiple changes but the untrained eye wouldn’t see any difference.  The cowl has all been metal finished and cowl vent installed.  The hand made windshield frame has been fabricated by Steadfast.   The new dash has been installed with the Johnson’s Hot Rods gauge insert recessed into the panel.

Probably the biggest change in these photos are that the car is now riding on a brand new Steadfast Hot Rods chassis. The new chassis has the wishbones, polished quickchange and rear leaf springs vs the coil-overs on the previous chassis.

The build continues with more fab and metal work being completed on the car.   The team at Steadfast Hot Rods has reworked the stock firewall and clean it up.  There is another firewall inside the car as well.  The floors have been reworked also.

A Walden Speed Shop roof insert was installed with some extra attention to detail by the Steadfast crew.  You can see some photos here, but we will not share anything up close or extra at this time.

The hood, grille shell and more is now on the car and has been gapped.   Attention will now turn towards the rear end of the car, the one-off wheels, grille and more.

During our latest visit to Steadfast Hot Rods in September, 2021, we see more details taking shape on the car.  The new hood is fitted and gapped to the body and grille shell.  The firewall and floor inside the car is completed with the transmission tunnel ready to be finished.

We reviewed the final wheel design with Steadfast and the one-off wheels are set to be machined the second week of September.   You will see a similar design here as we are going to have a front spindle mount wheel machined with a different wheel machined for the rears.
